Liam Payne's final message on social media show how One Direction star spent days before death

Fans were saddened and shocked by the news of his passing, as the star's social media page had been posting less than an hour before reports of his death emerged

One Direction star turned solo artist Liam Payne has passed away following a fall in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Officials are still investigating the exact circumstances surrounding his death, but local authorities said he died after he fell from a hotel balcony on the third floor.

He suffered “extremely serious injuries” and was pronounced dead on the spot, reported the Associated Press. Authorities will perform an autopsy and investigate the circumstances of his death.

The star was initially in Argentina to attend a Niall Horan concert with his partner Kate Cassidy, who shared she had left and returned to the USA on October 14th.

In a twist of fate, her seat number on the way home was 1D. She shared in the video that she had left behind a cuddly toy of hers for Liam.

Fans were saddened and shocked by the news, as the star's social media page had been posting less than an hour before reports of his death.

Despite being posted yesterday, his social media postings could be staggered, with the exact timeline unknown.

“Lovely day in Argentina,” the video posted on Snapchat yesterday was captioned.

“It’s a lovely day here in Argentina,” he said in the video, showing a table with food where his girlfriend was eating.

“This is the breakfast table. Just enjoying coffee and breakfast even though it’s 1 pm.”

The couple said they have been sleeping in until at least noon every day while in Argentina.

In another post, he posed with his girlfriend, saying “quality time” and teased a Halloween costume idea, saying "Halloween costume idea: Forest Gump.”

According to a post by Kate on social media, the couple was only planning to visit Argentina for five days, but ended up staying for two weeks.

"I was so ready to leave," she said in a TikTok video. "Honestly, love South America but I hate staying in one place for too long. And we were supposed to be there for, like, five days, turned into two weeks."

"I was just like, ‘I need to go home.’"

Liam's final Snapchat story was a photo of himself and Kate wearing swimsuits, which his girlfriend had posted last year to mark his 30th birthday.

On Instagram, Liam had made a tribute post to film maker Morgan Spurlock as his final ever post, which was shared five months ago.

"Rest in peace Morgan Spurlock it was a pleasure working with you," he wrote.

Fans have been following him via partner Kate's TikTok profile, where she regularly shared videos with him. The star had his own TikTok page, but had not posted in a number of months.

Before meeting Kate, Liam was engaged to actress Maya Henry from 2020 to 2021.

He also had a relationship with singer and X Factor judge Cheryl Tweedy, with whom he shares his only child, a sever-year-old son named Bear.
