Met Éireann issues status orange warning for two counties with 'very heavy' rain due

Met Éireann is forecasting 'heavy and persistent rain' from midnight on Saturday through to midnight on Sunday, plus there is a status yellow rain warning in place for a number of counties

Met Eireann has issued a status orange weather warning for heavy rain for Kerry and Cork.

The rain storm warnings are in place for October 5th, so locals have some time to prepare or amend plans where necessary.

The warning is in place for the entire day on Saturday, from midnight through to 11pm.

Met Éireann is warning of "very heavy and persistent rain, with highest accumulations in mountainous areas of Kerry and west Cork."

The impacts include:

• River and coastal flooding
• Dangerous travelling conditions
• Travel disruption

There is also a status yellow rain warning for Clare, Limerick, Waterford, Galway, and Mayo.

The warning is for heavy and persistent rain, with possible impacts including localised flooding and difficult travelling conditions.
