Who is Kate Cassidy? Liam Payne's girlfriend and their two-year relationship

The One Direction member’s girlfriend began dating the Strip That Down singer back in October 2022, with the pair seen together all the time since making their red carpet debut

Liam Payne had many high profile relationships through the years from having a child with Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole to his flirty fun with supermodel Naomi Campbell.

The former One Direction member has been in a committed relationship with social media influencer Kate Cassidy for the past two years.

The couple were reported to have spent time together in Argentina before Liam tragically passed away.

Their connection dates back to October 2022 when Kate was pictured with The X Factor star. Originally from New Jersey, she attended Coastal Carolina University and graduated in 2021 before packing up her bags and moving to London. She spent some time travelling the world and sharing her adventures on her social media accounts, gathering up followers. Kate spent some time in Europe’s most stunning locations, including Lake Como, Saint-Tropez, Paris, Milan and more.

She was first spotted with Liam during Halloween in 2022 enjoying the spooky season. Kate dressed up as the bombshell Pamela Anderson, while Liam donned a white tank top and showed off some tattoos to impersonate Tommy Lee.

She posted pictures of her costumes on social media, making the couple Instagram official. Just two months later, they confirmed their relationship again by making their red carpet debut together for the British Fashion Awards.

The pair looked great as Liam wore a black suit with peaked lapels and a matching tie while Kate stunned in a black dress that featured a high leg slit.

The One Directioner couldn’t get over how amazing his girlfriend looked as he took to Instagram to comment on a snap of them from the evening: “Who is that lucky lucky dashing young man next to you. nah seriously you look fantastic I coulda just told you that as your on the sofa next to me but you know tech and phones n stuff.”

Some fans weren’t as delighted about the news of their romance as they voiced their concerns over Kate.

Going online to address the claims, Liam said: “Gotta say you could tell me anything and I couldn't be turned, I've never felt a love like I do for Katelyn. We make each other better people.”

He added that if his girlfriend was only interested in his money, he would “give her all of it”.

“It's not though (please remember I'm hella sexy) and I know I'm fun and a loveable person,” he added. “And I don't give a f*** to say that for the first time in my life I'm happy to be me and that's priceless.”

Their relationship went full steam ahead, with Liam introducing Kate to his former One Direction member Louis Tomlinson at the UK premiere of the documentary All Of Those Voices, which focused on Louis’s life.

Kate shared pictures of her and Liam and captioned it: “What a crazy eye opening experience! It was so nice to meet you finally. I’m so glad I got to share those moments with you watching your best friend, even the tearful ones… [Louis Tomlinson] well done on such a beautiful film that everybody will love”.

Come May 2023, it was reported that Kate and Liam had gone their separate ways. A source told The Sun at the time that the singer was more focused on his music, and Kate had allegedly moved out and gone back home to America.

By June, the pair were being spotted together again. They were seen leaving Chiltern Firehouse in London after attending the private club Annabel's 60th Anniversary Party.

Since then, Liam has made rare appearances on Kate’s Instagram profile, including a trip to Disneyland Paris, in a post celebrating his 30th birthday and a friend’s wedding in September 2024.

Most recently, they flew to Argentina together to see one of Niall Horan’s concerts. While they were originally meant to spend five days there, Kate says they ended up staying for two weeks.

According to one of her latest TikTok videos, she left on 14 October and returned to Miami, Florida without Liam.

“I was so ready to leave,” she said in the clip. “Honestly, love South America but I hate staying in one place for too long. And we were supposed to be there for, like, five days, turned into two weeks.”

Two days later, Liam sadly died after falling from a hotel’s balcony.
