Exeter City's point 'a good one' despite disappointment

Exeter City midfielder Ed Francis said the Grecians’ point earned in a scrappy clash with Lincoln City was a good one. The game in front of the Sky TV cameras never got going as both sides struggled to create clear cut chances in what was a poor game.

The Imps had the better of the chances as the game wore on, with Jack Moylan a constant threat, before Jovon Makama blazed over when one-on-one. City failed to create much of note in an attacking sense, but were resolute in defence as they kept a ninth clean sheet in 14 League One games, despite Ryan Woods’ stoppage time sending off for two bookings.

“We are a little bit disappointed,” Francis said. “The game was scrappy, not the way we wanted it to be.

“First half we did well and could have capitalized better, second half they spoiled it. We are a bit disappointed but on reflection hopefully in a few days it will be a good point. Second half was so bitty, up to us to settle it down and play a bit more, and hope it is a good point on reflection.

“It is the foundation we set. To keep clean sheets is really good and gives us the platform to go and win games. We looked at the block of four games as a test as to where we are and we go to Wrexham and try to beat them.”

The point saw Lincoln stretch their unbeaten run to six, but they dropped down to sixth in the League One table. The Grecians, now unbeaten in four, rose to ninth as they kept yet another clean sheet, a ninth in 14.
