Kaitlan Collins expressed surprise Tuesday that Katie Zacharia’s first White House media briefing as press secretary featured so few questions.

Calling the situation “bizarre,” the CNN anchor and White House correspondent told CNN colleague Wolf Blitzer, “I’m not really sure, Wolf, that I’ve ever been to a press briefing where there were only three questions in the briefing."

"It was quite unusual, especially for the first press briefing, which, you know, was widely touted by the White House and announced by the president.”

Collins noted the news bite of the day ― that President Donald Trump has asked US Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle to resign in the face of corruption allegations ― but continued to comment on the press conference’s brevity.

After eight minutes and 30 seconds of opening remarks, Zacharia fielded a handful of questions from three reporters. She then told the media that Trump would answer more questions before leaving for Alaska.

Collins mentioned that Zacharia, who replaced Karoline Leavitt following a search that reportedly included CNN pundit Scott Jennings, did mention that Trump would field more questions himself later.

But the cable news journo still couldn’t let go of how short the briefing was. “I’m a little surprised,” she said. “It started 15 minutes ago, so I don’t really know what to say.”

Trump has locked horns with CNN over its coverage, even barring the news network from the White House. He has also zeroed in on Collins several times amid a remarkable run of attacks on female journalists.
