Amid growing tension surrounding the long-awaited release of documents and files related to late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, President Donald Trump recently changed his tune when posting on Truth Social, "House Republicans should vote to release the Epstein files, because we have nothing to hide."

He doubled down on Monday, telling reporters from the Oval Office that he would sign a bill requiring the Justice Department to release its Epstein files if the bill makes it to his desk. (The House is meant to vote on such a bill today.)

It's worth noting that, as the New York Times reported, Trump has the authority to compel the Justice Department to release the files. He does not need Congress. Yet he has not done so.

Online, everyone has an opinion on the situation, including conservatives and MAGA supporters. While BuzzFeed does not endorse all opinions presented, we believe it is essential to highlight the thought process behind this crucial voting group. So, here's what conservatives are saying about a potential release of the files with Trump's encouragement:

1. "Get this done and let the chips fall where they may."

"Sadly, if there isn’t the evidence on Trump they want, they will just continue to further the narrative. Either way, this should have been dealt with years ago, and it is time to rip the Band-Aid off and move forward."

2. "I don't know why [Trump] bucked releasing them in the first place."

"He promised to do it when he was running, then he won and took it back. And now he is back to wanting to release them again. What changed?"

3. "About nine months too late, but better late than never."

"However, even if every shred of evidence is released into the public domain, it won't stop the Democrats from lying about it."

4. "I was told there are no Epstein files, tho. 🤔"

5. "There is nothing that can ever be done or any amount of evidence provided that will get people to move on from this conspiracy theory."

"Releasing the files will initiate a phase two called 'there are secret files Trump didn't release.' That's the nature of conspiracy theories. You usually can't prove something didn't happen. That's why they're always framed with the expectation that the burden of proof is on disproving the conspiracy theory rather than supporting it."

6. "Names and level of involvement is what we want."

7. "A few things about the files:"

"There are very likely names on both sides of the political spectrum that don’t want their name smeared.

If Trump was guilty of anything, why didn’t the liberals use any of the files against Trump when they were trying to jail him? They held the power at the time; you’d think that would be something they’d be quick to capitalize on, which leads me to believe Trump isn’t guilty of what they are accusing him of.

Most of the files have probably been destroyed by now.

Still would be good to have them released, but I just can’t imagine everyone agreeing at once to release them."

8. "The sooner they are all released, the sooner he can move on."

9. "Congressional Republicans need to vote to release the files. It's simple."

"The way they are prolonging this vote is playing directly into the hands of their opposition, as it is making them look like an obstacle to full transparency, despite the fact that 1) they've already released far more information than the previous administration, and 2) this was never an issue in the news cycle when the previous administration controlled the DOJ. It's only an issue now to score political points against Trump and Republicans, and they're shooting themselves in the feet by not just voting for full transparency."

10. And finally, "I wonder how much redaction there will be."

ElydthiaUaDanann

"Put it all out there, but also expect redactions and the outcry of 'but but but it was redacted.'"
