It opens with Peter Parker reading a letter while memories of his friend, Ned Leeds (played by Jacob Batalon), and his love, MJ (Zendaya), play onscreen.

Ned and MJ have no memory of Peter (if you remember, Dr. Strange cast a spell to save the multiverse, which resulted in wiping out any memory of Peter's existence in the previous Spidey film), which sets a dark tone for the trailer. And what's even more heartbreaking, Peter has to see MJ with her new boyfriend (played by Eman Esfandi). Brutal.

But despite that somber vibe, there's an exciting Avengers sighting: Peter seeks out the help of Dr. Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo). Although we don't see him Hulk out in the trailer, the prospect of him joining forces with Spider-Man can lead to a host of epic possibilities.

We also see The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) in the trailer, chasing Spider-Man in a high-stakes car chase that's bound to look glorious on a big screen.

Needless to say, Marvel fans are geeked about this first look at Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Here's what they're saying on Twitter:
"Man... after No Way Home hit me like that, a Brand New Day is exactly what I needed. Peter finally getting a reset? I'm seated Day 1."
"Finally a street-level Spider-Man movie that doesn’t need multiverse cameos or world-ending stakes. But… are we really okay with Peter being this isolated and MJ moving on with someone else?"
"They really said 'a brand new day starts now' and delivered the most hyped reset ever. Peter alone, new villains, high-stakes swings, I'm seated day one."
"First look rule: if you can't see her face, she's either the final boss or the new love interest. Knowing Marvel... both. Sadie Sink takeover incoming."
"Sadie Sink in the Spider-Man universe on July 31st is a casting that immediately raises the stakes for Brand New Day. Whatever role she’s playing this first look already has the whole conversation shifting."
With all the surprises in store in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, we can rest assured about one thing: The pride and joy of Queens, New York, is back, y'all.
