Elliot Page Admits He’s Not Getting The Role Offers You’d Expect After “The Odyssey”

The Odyssey star Elliot Page has opened up about the challenges of finding work, admitting that while he would "really love to do, ideally, good work", getting cast is now "a little tricky" for him.

The Oscar-nominated actor discussed his career and working with Christopher Nolan during a new hour-long interview with On Film...With Kevin McCarthy, where he delved into how he feels more comfortable and "embodied" in himself now, and how that has changed the way he approaches his work.

When McCarthy suggested Page would likely be inundated with calls and offers following his role of Sinon in the 2026 hit, Page laughed: "No, Kevin, I'm not. So, if someone wants to call me."

But Page made clear he’s not stepping away from work by choice. When McCarthy asked if he was deliberately taking a break, Page said he’d actually "really love" to find the right role.

Page also touched on his experience playing Ariadne in Nolan’s 2010 sci-fi Inception, which came before his transition.youtube.com

“I had such a great time being in that movie, I had such a great time working with [Christopher Nolan], but I was also personally really uncomfortable. Whereas, a part like Juno, you know, I was able to feel a bit more comfortable and embodied or something like that.”

Page went on to explain that he no longer feels like he has to work through that discomfort when acting, saying he’s "not having to like literally work through a performance that I like don't even quite know I'm doing to get to a performance".

He added that he feels like he could “do some of my best work now”.

Attention soon turned to The Odyssey, where Page admitted to getting a bit emotional when wrapping, describing it as a "full circle moment".

"I think that just feeling more embodied and connected. That's what lets you weirdly let go more, you know, that's what lets you, you know, knowing yourself more and embodying yourself more, weirdly lets you let go."

And while Page is keen to keep working, he suggested that his position in Hollywood has changed since his transition.

"I was seen in a certain way before, and it’s different now, so maybe there is something to reaching out to people and trying to create projects that way," he shared. "But it’s a little tricky for me to get cast now, for obvious reasons."
