Iran launched a fresh spate of strikes on Washington’s Gulf allies on Saturday morning after the United States bombed the country for a seventh consecutive night following the collapse of a ceasefire deal.

Both Iran and Kuwait said the latest attacks hit desalination plants, a crucial source of water in the dry Middle East region.

Kuwait’s energy and water ministry said Saturday that an Iranian attack had sparked a fire at a power and desalination plant. The country depends on desalination for 90 percent of its drinking water.
