Dutch election 2025: Liberal Rob Jetten on track to be the next prime minister – POLITICO
· POLITICORob Jetten is in pole position to be the next Dutch prime minister after his liberal D66 party scored a stunning result in Wednesday’s election.
D66 is on track for 26 seats, tied for the most with far-right firebrand Geert Wilders’ Party for Freedom (PVV), according to an updated preliminary forecast by the Dutch news agency ANP. That would put D66 in a strong position to lead the next government because other parties have said they would not work with Wilders.
“We did it!” Jetten announced to his boisterous supporters in the university city of Leiden earlier in the night after an exit poll by Ipsos I&O, carried out for the broadcasters NOS and RTL, predicted it would finish first with 27 seats. “We delivered the best result ever achieved by D66.”
