UK confirms Iran unsuccessfully targeted Diego Garcia base – POLITICO

The British government confirmed on Saturday that Iran launched an unsuccessful attack on Diego Garcia, a joint U.S.-U.K. military base in the Indian Ocean.

Earlier reports said that Tehran fired two ballistic missiles at the base but missed.

"Iran’s reckless attacks, lashing out across the region and holding hostage the Strait of Hormuz, are a threat to British interests and British allies," a spokesperson for the U.K.'s defense ministry said in an emailed statement.
