Man arrested over North Sea oil tanker fire – POLITICO
by Noah Keate · POLITICOLONDON — A 59-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter after a cargo ship collided with an oil tanker carrying jet fuel for the U.S. military off the coast of eastern England.
United States, Portuguese and British authorities are currently probing the North Sea crash that set both vessels alight and triggered a major rescue operation.
There is "no evidence" of foul play, the British government said Tuesday, as it confirmed its "working assumption" is that one of the sailors involved had died.
