UK did not vet former Prince Andrew before making him trade envoy – POLITICO
by Jon Stone · POLITICOLONDON — The British government did no formal vetting or due diligence before appointing the former Prince Andrew as a trade envoy, ministers have admitted.
The U.K. government on Thursday published a cache of documents relating to the appointment of the disgraced ex-royal as special representative for UK trade and investment in 2001.
Lawmakers compelled the release of the documents in February as they seek to shed light on the thinking in government at the time of the decision.
