Vikrant Massey On Sharing Best Actor With Shah Rukh At 71st National Film Awards, 'A Privilege..'

The 71st National Film Awards winners have been announced. Vikrant Massey expressed his joy over receiving Best Actor for the first time and sharing it with Shah Rukh Khan.

National Film Awards are one of the most prestigious and anticipated honours conferred for excellence and merit in the Indian film industry. The 71st National Film Awards ceremony was recently held, and all the winners were announced. The Best Actor award was given to not one, but two stars of Hindi cinema. Both Shah Rukh Khan and Vikrant Massey were honoured with this accolade. The latter has expressed his 'privilege' to be sharing this title with the 'King Khan'. 

Best Actor shared between Shah Rukh Khan and Vikrant Massey 

Shah Rukh Khan was honoured for his acting in the 2023 film, Jawan and won the Best Actor award after 33 years. He shared the award with Vikrant Massey, who also won the title for his exceptional performance in 12th Fail. It is also interesting to note that this is the first National Film Award won by both actors. Vikrant made an official statement and thanked all the officials and jury who made the ceremony possible. He also showered gratitude on the filmmaker of 12th Fail, Vidhu Vinod Chopra. In his official statement, Vikrant said:

 “I want to thank the Honourable Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the NFDC, and all the esteemed jury members of the 71st National Film Awards for considering my performance worthy of this recognition. I also want to thank Shri Vidhu Vinod Chopra ji for giving me this opportunity.”

Vikrant further said that winning the award was a dream come true. The actor also stated that he was grateful to the audience for loving his performance. Then Vikrant shared that it was a 'privilege' for him to be sharing the Best Actor award with 'an icon like Shah Rukh Khan'. At the end, the 12th Fail actor dedicated his first ever National Film Award to all the marginalised communities who are often invisible in society. Vikrant said:

“Today, if I may say so, a 20-year-old boy’s dream has come true. I am eternally grateful to the audiences for honouring my performances and for recommending this film with such love. It is a privilege to be sharing my first National Award with an icon like Shah Rukh Khan. Lastly, I dedicate this award to all the marginalised people in our society — those who are often looked through, and those who are fighting the socio-economic paradigm of our country every single day.”

More winners of the 71st National Film Awards 

The Best Actress award was won by Rani Mukerji for her acting in Mrs. Chatterjee v/s Norway. Meanwhile, the Best Hindi Film award was won by the Netflix film, Kathal. Produced under Balaji Motion Pictures and Sikhya Entertainment banner, the film stars Sanya Malhotra, Vijay Raaz, Raghubir Yadav and more in important roles. Meanwhile, the Best Sound Design award went to Animal, and Best Choreography and Best Popular Film were won by Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani. The Kerala Story also won notable titles for direction and cinematography.
