Nana Patekar's sudden death at the age of 75 has been difficult to process for his fans. The heartbreaking news was confirmed by NDTV. They mentioned that the actor died in the early hours of October 8, 2026. Meanwhile, let's know more about his son Malhar Patekar, and the family that he left behind. 

Who is Nana Patekar's son, Malhar Patekar? 

Malhar Patekar is the son of Nana Patekar and his wife, Neelakanti Patekar, who was a National Award-winning Marathi actress. In contrast to his father, who went on to become one of the most acclaimed actors in Indian cinema. Malhar mostly stayed out of the spotlight. Instead, he made his individual career behind the camera.

Malhar Patekar was born and raised in Mumbai. He completed his schooling in the city before he pursuing a degree in Commerce. However, to follow his passion for filmmaking, he went to London. There, he completed a professional course in filmmaking. Since then, he has worked in different areas of cinema and chose direction and production.

Malhar began his career in the entertainment industry by working at Genesis Advertising Agency. He later served as an assistant to director Ram Gopal Varma on the film, The Attacks of 26/11 (2013). Malhar also made a brief appearance in films during his younger years but eventually decided to focus on filmmaking. He presently manages projects under Nana Patekar Productions. On the personal front, Malhar leads a simple and private life, similar to his father. 

For those who do not know, Malhar is Nana Patekar's only surviving son. Before him, the actor and his family suffered a loss with the death of his eldest son, Durvasa Patekar. The child reportedly died when he was just two and a half years old. He was born with some medical challenges, like a cleft palate and vision-related issues. Eventually, his death had a deep impact on the entire family. Several years later, Nana Patekar admitted that it was one of the most painful chapters in his personal life.

At the same time, the actor had spoken candidly about the pain of losing his son. He admitted that the tragedy changed him as a person with a long-lasting emotional impact that never left him. In fact, the tragedy strengthened the bond within their family and made Malhar's presence more important to his parents.

Nana Patekar died on October 8, 2026. He reportedly suffered a sudden cardiac arrest at his residence in Dona Paula, Goa. According to the initial reports, the actor was found unconscious at his home. Therefore, he was immediately taken to the hospital. 

Although doctors tried to revive him through emergency medical procedures like prolonged CPR, they were unable to save him. He died in the early hours of October 8, 2026. After getting the heartbreaking news, Malhar Patekar reportedly travelled to Goa to be with his family. Nana Patekar was best known for work in films like Prahaar, Krantiveer, Ab Tak Chhappan, Welcome and Natsamrat,
