Hugh Hefner's Widow Crystal Hefner Talks About Being 'Brainwashed' By 60 Years Older Playboy Founder

Crystal Hefner, the famous Playboy Playmate's widow, talked about her marriage to him and how she thinks that she was brainwashed. Crystal Hefner was married to former Playboy founder, Hugh Hefner at the time of his death and shared how she had lived life as a married woman in the Playboy Mansion.

Crystal Hefner talked about how things were during her married life with Hugh Hefner

During an interaction on the podcast, No One Asked Her with Billy Ray Cyrus's ex-wife, Firerose, Crystal revealed that she was simply brainwashed, but there was nothing that validated her. So, she just thought that she was crazy one as all the media kept putting Hugh on a pedestal. She said:

"I think I was absolutely brainwashed, but there was nothing out there that validated me. So, I just thought I was the crazy one because all of the media put Hef on such a pedestal that I'm like, 'OK, if they all see him as this larger-than-life amazing human, there must be something wrong with me." 

Crystal further revealed that she would watch his old interviews  from the past and there was one where Hugh was arguing with feminists and a woman said that he should parade out here with a bunny tail and stuff. She said:

"I would watch interviews of his from the past, and there was this one where he was arguing with feminists. And a woman said, 'Uh, let's see you parade out here with a bunny tail on and stuff.' And then she said, 'Calling women animals,' ... And he said, 'Women are animals; what else would they be?'"

Crystal talked about living in Playboy mansion and stated that she was under the watch of 70 employees. She would keep him in this dilapidated, gross home and wasn't allowed to see her family. She said:

"At that time, I was like siding with him and ... like, I'm going against myself while he keeps me in this dilapidated, gross home, and I can't see my family. I remember when I left, I mean, it took him dying for me to leave, but when I finally left, I didn't even know how to turn the headlights on in my car because I was always home before dark." 

Crystal revealed that she was at home as movie night would be around 6. She realized it was time for her curfew. For the unversed, Crystal started dating Hugh when she was just 21 years old. They tied the knot at the age of 24 with the Playboy founder, who was 84 years old. 

As per reports, they called off their wedding just days before the wedding ceremony in 2011 and later they got back together. The couple got married in 2012 and remained together till Hugh died in 2017 at the age of 91. 

As per Crystal, she struggled to leave the house after he passed away and she stated that it left her extremely confused. She stated that she couldn't stay in the bedroom they shared. But she remained in one bedroom of the same house for six weeks before she left. 

Crystal always expressed her gratitude for her marriage to the late business mogul. She stated that he taught her love and kindness and gave her a life. Crystal also stated that he opened her mind, her world to all the new opportunities and experiences, which she would never have in her lifetime.

In her memoir, Crystal stated that after she left the mansion where she stayed for five years, she considered a lot of thereapy and realized that the place affected her more than she thought.
