Jessica Biel, actress and wife of Justin Timberlake, has been roped in for the role of the fictional wife of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner in Playmates. Inspired by writer-director Lorraine Nicholson's childhood at the Playboy mansion, the film will also feature Lily-Rose Depp, Indiana Elle, and Bill Pullman. After the cast announcement, Hugh's widow, Crystal Hefner requested Jessica not to accept the role for certain reasons.

Hugh Hefner's widow urges Jessica Biel to reject role of Hugh Hefner's wife in Playboy Mansion-based movie

Jessica Biel is all set to play the fictional version of the wife of Hugh Hefner. Though Hugh is not the central focus of the movie, his real-life widow, Crystal Hefner fears there would be an attempt to "romanticize him or the Playboy world." She sent a lengthy Instagram DM to Jessica, asking her "to reconsider" the role if that was the case. Crystal herself publicized the message she sent to Jessica, which included some bombshell revelations about her time as Hugh's third wife.

In the message, Crystal claimed that she experienced "sexual, emotional, financial and physical abuse" during her marriage to Hugh Hefner and added that several other women have made allegations of "rape, coercion, drugging and exploitation." Crystal further stated that allegations against her late husband aren't only related to adult females, but also to minors. In her words:

"Please reconsider playing Hugh Hefner's "wife" if this film intends to romanticize him or the Playboy world. I was actually his wife, and I experienced sexual, emotional, financial and physical abuse in that relationship. Many other women have come forward with allegations of rape, coercion, drugging and exploitation as well. There are also deeply troubling concerns involving minors."

Crystal Hefner, who went from Hugh's playboy bunny to his wife, shared her wish that the Playmates movie not be an attempt to whitewash the Playboy founder's image in the name of nostalgia. She wants everyone to spare some time to think about the women who have been allegedly exploited by Hugh and listen to their tragic stories. Crystal thought Hollywood could do better than romanticizing the mental and physical torment of women and stated:

"I hope everyone involved in this film takes the time to listen to the women who lived it before helping Hollywood turn it back into nostalgia."

Crystal Hefner expressed regret over marrying Hugh Hefner

Crystal Hefner stated that she regretted marrying the popular Playboy founder, Hugh Hefner. She once thought she made it in life through the wedding, but in reality she made herself look smaller so his world would look bigger. She said:

"Yes, I regret it. I regret being in my mid-20s and thinking that marrying one of the most famous men in the world meant that I had finally made it, that I finally mattered or had value. I regret the years I spent making myself smaller so his world could feel bigger."

Crystal regretted that she learned to stay quiet when she should have spoken out. She abandoned herself to survive, and it took her years to understand what was actually happening to her. She revealed that people never wanted her to express her emotions and forever remain the grateful 60-years-younger wife.

However, Crystal Hefner said she was done living that version of the story and that the marriage was her biggest mistake. She added that accepting it has been the most honest thing she has done for herself. Crystal authored the memoir Only Say Good Things: Surviving Playboy and Finding Myself, where she told her story in her own words.
