Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, has provided an update on the team’s injury situation ahead of their upcoming match against Leicester City in the Premier League.

Mikel Arteta confirmed that Jurrien Timber, who was unable to complete the full 90 minutes in their previous match against Manchester City and was subsequently absent from their Carabao Cup fixture against Bolton Wanderers, has returned to training and will be available for selection this weekend.

Additionally, there is optimism regarding the fitness of Ben White. Arteta also mentioned that there are positive signs regarding the recovery of another player, Merino, who is making progress in training but may not be ready for their clash against Leicester City at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 28.

“Jurien was able to take part in training today, so that’s good news,” Arteta said in a press conference earlier today, September 27.

“He will be available in the squad. Ben hopefully will too.”

Mikel Arteta added: “Tomorrow is too soon, we’ll see for next week. He had partial training today, he’s been working so hard.

“It’s looking good, it’s just about the healing of the bone and how mature that is to expose him to contact.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s manager, Enzo Maresca, has acknowledged that his decision to ask Ben Chilwell to leave the club during the summer transfer window may have been a mistake.

Maresca had excluded Chilwell from first-team training in an attempt to facilitate his departure, but the English defender ultimately remained at Stamford Bridge.

Chilwell returned to the squad earlier this month and played in the second half of Chelsea’s 5-0 win over Barrow in the Carabao Cup.

When asked about the situation, Maresca admitted that everyone makes mistakes and that he intended to make decisions that he believed were in the best interest of the club, without any ill intent.

The coach said: “We all make mistakes. Probably yes; probably no. I am here to make decisions.

“Sometimes they are good decisions and sometimes they are not good.

“The only thing I can say is that there is not any bad intention from me. It is just to see things and try to think about the best things for the club.”
