Tiger Woods Involved In Car Crash In Florida
by George Oshogwe Ogbolu · Naija NewsGolf legend Tiger Woods was involved in a rollover car crash on Friday in Jupiter Island, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said the crash occurred shortly after 2 p.m. local time in the coastal town where the 50-year-old golfer resides.
Details about the cause of the accident and Woods’ condition were not immediately released by officials.
Law enforcement authorities confirmed that an investigation into the incident is ongoing, with officials expected to provide further updates during a media briefing later in the day.
Attempts by reporters to obtain additional comments from the sheriff’s office were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
Local media footage from the crash site showed a vehicle believed to belong to Woods lying on its side after the rollover accident.
The incident occurred at a time when Woods has been dealing with several fitness challenges in recent months.
The golfer has been recovering from a ruptured Achilles tendon as well as back surgery performed in October, both of which affected his playing schedule.
Earlier in the week, Woods returned to action in the TGL finals with his team Jupiter Links GC, which lost to Los Angeles Golf Club.
Before the crash, Woods had been considering a return to the PGA Tour at the upcoming Masters Tournament, scheduled to begin on April 9 at Augusta National Golf Club.
His participation in the prestigious tournament was expected to mark another step in his gradual return to professional competition.
The latest crash recalls Woods’ serious accident in February 2021, when he suffered severe leg injuries in a single-vehicle crash near Los Angeles.
His vehicle overturned multiple times during that incident, leaving him with open fractures in his leg that required emergency surgery.
Woods spent weeks in hospital and later said he was “lucky to be alive.”
