Nottingham Forest Threatens To Sue Spurs Over Gibbs-White

Nottingham Forest are considering legal action over what they claim is a breach of confidentiality in Tottenham Hotspur’s chase for star midfielder, Morgan Gibbs-White.

Nottingham Forest are reportedly unhappy over how Spurs have approached the 24-year-old England international.

Forest sources told BBC Sport the club is investigating whether a specific confidentiality clause tied to his £60 million release has been violated.

The tension escalated after BBC Sport revealed that Gibbs-White was scheduled for a medical on Friday, with Tottenham intent on triggering the clause.

Forest, however, maintains that Spurs never received clearance to speak to the player, something Premier League rules strictly prohibit without formal consent from the owning club.

“Forest’s threat to take legal action is genuine,” one source confirmed. Insiders say Forest are willing to go “to whatever lengths required” to stop the transfer.

Despite the threat, Tottenham remain hopeful that a deal will be sealed amid the possibility of a legal battle.

Gibbs-White, who moved to the City Ground from Wolves in August 2022 in a deal worth up to £42.5 million, has been central to Forest’s campaign over the past three seasons.

He has registered 18 goals and 28 assists in 118 appearances. His performances earned him an England debut in the Nations League against Ireland and a recent appearance against Senegal under new national team manager Thomas Tuchel.

The potential departure of Gibbs-White is coming after Swedish winger Anthony Elanga agreed to join Newcastle United. Newcastle will reportedly pay £55 million to finalise the signing of the 22-year-old forward.
