Super Eagles Land 120,000 Dollars Bonus After Gabon Rout, Garba Predicts Win Over DR Congo

The Super Eagles have received a goals bonus of 120,000 dollars after their dominant 4-1 win against Gabon, a result that pushed them into Sunday’s World Cup playoff final.

According to SCORENigeria, the payout was arranged through a collaboration between the Nigeria Sports Commission and private partners. It formed part of the promises made to settle the pay dispute that led to the players’ brief strike earlier in the week.

Officials are already discussing the prospect of a larger bonus if Nigeria can overcome the Democratic Republic of Congo in the final. The match will take place at the Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex in Rabat, with a kick-off scheduled for 8:00 p.m. Nigerian time.

Naija News reports that Nigeria head into the contest full of confidence after sweeping aside the Panthers. Victor Osimhen delivered two extra-time goals to put the game beyond reach and seal a well-earned victory.

Their opponents, DR Congo, edged Cameroon 1-0 in their own semi-final thanks to a late strike, setting up a decisive showdown in Morocco for a place in the intercontinental playoffs.

Former Super Eagles midfielder Ahmed Garba believes Nigeria have enough momentum to finish the job.

“Our next game against DR Congo will be difficult as they were able to defeat Cameroon, who are a big team,” Garba told Footy Africa.

“It will be a physical game and the boys will have to be up for it. I like how the team is developing, and I think we will be able to beat them. The Super Eagles have got their confidence back, and I see them defeating DR Congo.”
