Myanmar President Meets RBI Governor During India Visit
· Eleven Media Group Co., LtdMyanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing, who is currently on an official visit to India, held talks with the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
The meeting took place this morning (June 2) in New Delhi, India, between President U Min Aung Hlaing and RBI Governor H.E. Shri Sanjay Malhotra.
During the discussions, both sides exchanged views on strengthening bilateral trade and economic cooperation, expanding collaboration across various sectors, and improving banking cooperation to enable faster and smoother payment systems for trade activities.
They also discussed ongoing efforts to allow direct payments in Indian Rupees and Myanmar Kyats for bilateral trade, India’s support in sharing banking system expertise with Myanmar banking staff, and cooperation in exchanging experiences related to digital payment systems between the two countries.
The meeting was attended by Union Ministers U Khin Maung Yi and U Tin Maung Swe, Central Bank of Myanmar Governor Dr. Khin Naing Oo, and other delegation members accompanying the President. Officials from India’s Ministry of External Affairs also attended alongside the RBI Governor.
