Prosecutors in Nick Reiner Case Will Not Seek Death Penalty

Los Angeles County district attorney Nathan J. Hochman said in a press conference ahead of a hearing on September 15 that prosecutors would not be seeking the death penalty in the double-murder case against Nick Reiner, who has been accused of killing his parents, Rob and Michele Singer Reiner. Reiner has pleaded not guilty to the charges filed against him. If he is convicted, Reiner will face a sentence of life in prison with no possibility for parole. “We did speak with Nick Reiner’s siblings,” Hochman said. “They made their views very clear. We took their views into consideration in ultimately deciding not to seek the death penalty.” There is still no trial date set, and Hochman said that he did not anticipate one until the beginning of next year.
