The Beckham-Peltz Wedding DJ Is Team Brooklyn

by · VULTURE

DJ Fat Tony, who slung the tunes for Brooklyn Beckham’s wedding to Nicola Peltz, is sharing his perspective on the wedding that launched a thousand Instagram Stories. Since the ceremony in April 2022, things have been strained between the eldest Beckham and his parents, David and Victoria. On U.K. chat show This Morning, Tony said Victoria did indeed do an “awkward” dance that “humiliated” Brooklyn, but it had nothing to do with Posh Spice’s dance moves. “There was no slut-dropping,” Fat Tony said. “There was no PVC catsuit, no Spice Girl action.” Instead, the thing that humiliated Brooklyn was the way Victoria allegedly turned the couple’s first dance into a mother-son Latin number.

According to the DJ, the “timing” of Victoria’s dance was inappropriate, not the moves. “Marc Anthony asks ‘the most beautiful woman in the room’ to come to the stage,” said DJ Fat Tony. This moment had previously been Peltz’s cue for her first dance with Brooklyn. But Anthony allegedly switched it up: “Then he says, ‘Victoria, come to the stage.’” Victoria then went onstage and danced “a Latin thing” with her son. “At this point, Brooklyn is literally devastated,” DJ Fat Tony said, “because he thought he was going to do his first dance with his wife. Then Nicola leaves the room crying her eyes out.” This lines up pretty well with what Brooklyn said in his lengthy statement on Instagram Stories, seemingly in an effort to go no-contact with his parents permanently.

DJ Fat Tony DJ’d the welcome party, the reception, and the brunch the morning after, which he said was the most awkward of all because “everything that had gone on the actual wedding night was discussed amongst all the guests the next morning.” Since that weekend, Brooklyn has been in a cold war with his parents. He claims the Beckhams have wanted to reconcile only in public, social-media-friendly ways and refused to see the Peltz-Beckhams during David’s 50th-birthday weekend unless they attended his heavily photographed party. Brooklyn says he was blocked by his family on social media, while his brother Cruz Beckham said Brooklyn was the one doing the blocking.

Circling back to the “slut-dropping”: This is a U.K. term for getting low, à la Atsuko Okatsuka’s Beyoncé-drop challenge. Here’s comedian Nish Kumar demonstrating the slut-drop to the best of his ability on The Jonathan Ross Show:
