Trump Booed While Presenting World Cup Trophy

What’s it called when people do the same thing over and over again, expecting different results? Being the president. Donald Trump attended another sporting event, and once again he appeared to be booed. It happened at the NBA Finals, it happened at the U.S. Open. It even happened at a UFC event in 2019, which is maybe why he made sure he attended one literally on his home turf.

This time Trump got booed at the World Cup Final, where Spain beat Argentina 1-0 in overtime. Along with FIFA president Gianni Infantino, Trump carried the trophy to Spain an its captain Rodri, where The Independent reports he was subjected to “a chorus of boos.” He then sidled up to the team to join in on the initial hoist of the prize. According to The Mirror, Trump also got booed at the beginning of the game, right after the National Anthem. The Guardian wasn’t so sure. According to them, FIFA declined to show the president on the Jumbotron. So people may have been booing Trump, the very notion of America, or Robbie Williams and Nicole Scherzinger. They were the ones performing by then. Seems unlikely anyone at MetLife feels strongly enough about Better Man to boo Robbie Williams.
