Love Island may be over, but the rest of the TV landscape still soldiers on. This morning’s Emmy nominations went pretty much as expected. Severance and The White Lotus dominated the Drama category, with 27 and 23 nominations each, respectively. The Studio, meanwhile, scored the most in Comedy with 23 — making it the most-nominated freshman comedy season in history, beating out Ted Lasso’s record. The Penguin dominated the Limited or Anthology Series category, with 24 nominations, but Adolescence got in everywhere that mattered, with 13. The big winner, however, wasn’t even in a program — it was a network. HBO Max got the most nominations this year, scoring 142 nominations. That’s the most nominations in the network’s history, beating its 137 nominations in 2019.
