Michael B. Jordan Looks Really Good in The Thomas Crown Affair
by Jason P. Frank · VULTUREThe last time a Michael Jordan was this red hot, it was the ’90s and he was on a basketball court. Now, it’s Michael B. Jordan’s turn to heat up the big screen again. After winning an Oscar for Sinners, one of the defining films of 2025, his next project, The Thomas Crown Affair, is an appropriately big swing. He both stars in and directed it, and the appeal is based almost entirely on his charm. The message in the first trailer is clear: Look how hot Michael B. Jordan is in a suit. “I’ve been takin’ risks my entire life, but last night it was different,” he narrates as we see him steal into a skyscraper. Then the all-important title card comes up: “From Academy Award winner Michael B. Jordan.”
The movie is a remake of the Pierce Brosnan vehicle from 1999, which was, in turn, a remake of the 1968 film starring Steve McQueen. Clearly, Jordan is putting himself in conversation with the big dogs. It’s his second time directing and starring, after Creed III. The story follows a billionaire art thief who falls in love with the insurance agent trying to put him behind bars. It’s a sexy game of cat and mouse that requires a superstar level of charisma to make the audience fall in love with a criminal. The film co-stars Kenneth Branagh, Adria Arjona, Lily Gladstone, and Danai Gurira. It will come out March 5, 2027, two years after Sinners debuted. Let’s see if he can pull off another massive hit.
