Another Sex Racket Busted In Odisha Capital, 4 Girls Rescued
by OB Bureau · Odisha BytesBhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Thursday busted a sex racket being run from a house near Khandagiri area in Bhubaneswar and rescued four girls.
The house has also been sealed.
According to sources, police raided the house on a tip-off and rescued the girls who were allegedly illegally detained there. “All the rescued girls are from Odisha. We have started an investigation and the rescued girls are being questioned,” said a police officer.
The officer further said that the owner of the house will also be questioned.
Sources further said that a woman from Nayagarh had illegally trafficked the girls and forced them into flesh trade.
This come two days after a 36-year-old man was arrested in connection with human trafficking and sex racket involving Bangladeshi girls, following raids at five locations in the capital city including Laxmisagar here, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to three. The victims were allegedly lured with promises of daily wages of Rs 2,000 but were forced into prostitution. Agents used social media platforms like WhatsApp to connect with customers, sharing victims’ photos and coordinating transactions. The matter came to light after a minor girl was rescued near Link Road in Cuttack on November 9 after she fled from the rented accommodation of a couple, identified as Veera Gujur Choudhary (55) of Rajasthan and Jasmine (36) of Keonjhar, who brought her to Odisha and later engaged her in flesh trade.
Bhubaneswar DCP Pinak Mishra had then assured strict action, stating that intelligence efforts are underway to dismantle the network and hold perpetrators accountable.
