Michael Conlan gives brutal two-word assessment of Mike Tyson and Jake Paul fight
by Fionn Nolan · Irish MirrorMichael Conlan gave a short but brutal reaction to Jake Paul’s boxing match against the legendary Mike Tyson.
The Belfast boxer took to social media to say “Sad this” as Paul picked apart his opponent in a one-sided bout at the AT&T Stadium in Texas.
Conlan wasn’t the only one disappointed as many watched a 58-year-old Tyson struggle to keep up with Paul’s youth.

He would go on to post on X: “I’m just glad Tyson didn’t get badly hurt, credit to him at 58 doing the 8 rounds and making a ton of money but that should never have happened, I suppose if it makes money it makes sense. Jake is a smart business man no doubt but that was sad.”
After the match, Tyson’s coach Rafael Cordeiro said their team genuinely believed a win was on the cards going into it.
He said: "We worked for seven months for this moment. I truly believed we had this victory before the fight.
"He never asked to give up. We are really proud of Mike, the way he trained for seven months, he put his life aside for training. He's the people's champ. He's inspired many people outside of the ring. The most important thing that Mike is going back home to his loved ones."
As for two-time Olympian Conlan, he is also due to make a comeback of his own to the ring in the new year.
He has not fought since losing to Jordan Gill last December, however, is back training with new coach Grant Smith.
It is unknown at this stage, who Conlan will take on, however, it does seem likely that the fight will be outside of Ireland and more than likely in the USA.
