RTE Late Late Show announces full celebrity line-up for unmissable Valentine's Special

by · Irish Mirror

The Late Late Show has officially confirmed the return of its highly anticipated Valentine's Special this week. Hosted by Patrick Kielty, this marks his second time in charge of the romantic extravaganza after his debut last year.

Previously, the Valentine's Special had typically become one of RTE's most complained about shows under Ryan Tubridy. However, last year, despite an audience of 399,000, only five viewers called in with "negative feedback".

This year’s special promises to deliver a star-studded line-up, featuring Hollywood icons and top comedians. A spokesperson said: "Treat yourself to a romantic night in this Valentine’s with comedy, conversation, and music to set your hearts on fire."

American actress and Mad Men star Christina Hendricks and Irish actor and comedian Chris O’Dowd will sit down with Patrick to chat about their new tv series Small Town, Big Story set-in rural Ireland. Chris will talk about filming in Ireland again and Christina will fill viewers in about her time on set.

Award-winning actor, comedian and writer Steve Coogan will also join Patrick to talk about appearing in the stage version of Stanley Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in Dublin. He will also be talking about his iconic character Alan Partridge and how it felt to finally get his Irish passport.

Canadian comedian, writer, presenter and actor Katherine Ryan will also be in studio tomorrow night. Katherine has carved out a hugely successful career on this side of the pond and will join Patrick to tell him about her Cork roots and her upcoming Irish gigs. For the night that’s in it, she will also chat about her own love story and how she ended up marrying her high school sweetheart over twenty years after they first met.

Meanwhile, singer-songwriter Gabrielle will be joining Patrick ahead of her gig in the 3Arena. The 90s icon will be chatting about her meteoric rise to fame, chart success and what's next for her. She will also be performing two of her smash hits, Dreams and Rise.

  • The Late Late Show returns tomorrow, February 14, at 9.35pm on RTE One.
