Young child dies and three seriously injured after horror crash in Donegal
by Conor Heneghan · Irish MirrorA young child has died and three people, including a female child, have been seriously injured following a road traffic collision in Donegal on Wednesday evening.
Gardaí attended the scene of the collision between a car and a van on the R240 at Carrowmore, Glentogher, Carndonagh shortly before 6.30pm on Wednesday.
Tragically, a young female child lost her life in the collision, while the female driver of the car, whose age is currently unknown, a male front-seat passenger, whose age is also unknown and a female child who was a rear passenger were all removed from the scene to Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry.
All three remained in a serious condition on Wednesday night. No other injuries were reported.
The road was closed for a technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions were in place. The road remained closed overnight.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 6pm and 6.30pm on Wednesday are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
