Alisson injury latest as Ireland's Caoimhin Kelleher looks set for nine-game run with Liverpool

Ireland goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is set for an extended run in the Liverpool first-team.

The latest update on Alisson’s injury woes suggest that the Brazil netminder will be sidelined until late November.

Alisson suffered a hamstring injury during last weekend’s Premier League win over Crystal Palace. He was replaced by former St Patrick’s Athletic goalkeeper Vitezlav Jaros, as Kelleher did not make the matchday squad through illness.

However, the Corkman will be Arne Slot’s number one when he returns from international duty with Ireland. Kelleher is currently in Helsinki ahead of Thursday’s clash with Finland, and then it’s onto Athens for Sunday’s game against Greece.

Alisson will miss some huge games for the Reds, with their upcoming schedule including fixtures against Chelsea and Arsenal, and Champions League games against RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen.

Liverpool also face Brighton twice, in the Carabao Cup and Premier League, as well as high-flying Aston Villa and Southampton.

Kelleher could also be in line to feature against Real Madrid in the Champions League on November 27 if Alisson fails to recover in time.
