Gardaí seize €1.4m in gold bullion, €460,000 in cash, and cocaine worth €260,000 in Dublin

A man in his 50s has been arrested in connection with the seizure at a number of business and residential premises

A man has been arrested following the seizure of €1.4 million in gold bullion, €460,000 in cash, and cocaine worth €210,000 in Dublin.

The man, who is aged in his 50s, is currently being detained at a Garda station in Dublin. He can be questioned for up to 24 hours under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The searches at a number of residential and business premises were carried out by the Dublin Crime Response Team today and yesterday, with support from other regional units and the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB).

“This seizure is another example of the fine work members of An Garda Síochána do on a daily basis to keep our communities safe,” said Chief Superintendent Garrett Billings of the Dublin Metropolitan Region (DMR).

“This operation, conducted by the Dublin Crime Response Team, is intended to target, disrupt, and bring to justice those who cause significant harm in society.”

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said the drugs that were seized during the searches in the capital are being sent for further analysis.

“Gardaí have arrested a man and seized €1.4 million in gold bullion, €460,000 in cash, and €210,000 in suspected cocaine following a search operation in the Dublin region,” they said.

“Gardaí attached to the Dublin Crime Response Team (DCRT) who conducted searches of residential and business premises have arrested a male in his 50s who is currently being held at a Dublin Garda Station under Section 4 Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

“Other DMR Regional Units and the Criminal Assets Bureau provided support in this operation,” they confirmed.
