Delhi News Live Updates:  The Supreme Court on Wednesday delivered a split verdict on a petition filed by Tahir Hussain, an accused in the Delhi riots case, seeking interim bail to campaign in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. A Bench consisting of Justices Pankaj Mithal and Ahsanuddin Amanullah issued a divided opinion. While Justice Mithal rejected Hussain’s plea, Justice Amanullah supported granting him interim bail.

Ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed BJP booth-level workers virtually, criticizing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for its governance. He called “Sheesh Mahal” a symbol of false promises made to Delhi’s poor and highlighted issues like lack of clean potable water and the prevalence of water and tanker mafias. “The people of Delhi cannot forget how the people of Poorvanchal have driven away from the city… they have venom in their hearts for those from Poorvanchal,” the PM stated. Urging booth-level workers to focus on voter outreach, he emphasized forming teams to connect with families at the grassroots level to build trust and support before the elections.

Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is set to release its manifesto on Wednesday, focusing on the needs of middle-class families. The party’s key demands from the Centre include increasing the education budget from 2% to 10%, providing scholarships for higher studies, enhancing the health budget, removing taxes on essential commodities, introducing a pension scheme for senior citizens, and offering a 50% concession on railway tickets for senior citizens. “The budget will be presented in two weeks and our MPs will raise the matters of middle-class people in the parliament,” says Kejriwal.

Citing CAG reports, Congress leader Ajay Maken on Wednesday accused Aam Aadmi Party government of committing corruption of Rs 382 crore in the healthcare sector.

During a press conference in Delhi, Maken said that they used to make allegations against the Congress government on the basis of CAG reports. At present, 14 CAG reports are showing serious corruption charges against the AAP government.

Maken claimed that he found that there was a scam of Rs 382 crore against former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.

AAP claimed that they would complete their work before time and also save money. But the CAG report states that only three new hospitals were built in the past 10 years, Maken said.

Delhi Police arrest builder for misusing funds from buyers

The Delhi Police arrested the director of a real estate company, who allegedly duped people of crores of rupees by promising them commercial spaces and residential units in Greater Noida, last week based on a First Information Report (FIR) registered in June 2022.

According to the complaint, the real estate company launched a project in Knowledge Park-III in Greater Noida in 2009, presenting it as a state-of-the-art IT park that would house commercial spaces, retail outlets, and residential units. Investors were lured with promises of quick possession, assured returns, and proximity to major IT companies expected to establish offices in the area, said the Economic Offences Wing (EOW).
