Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips’ centuries have helped New Zealand set the big target for India to chase. Mitchell continued his blistering run of form, scoring his second consecutive century of this series and then going on to make 137 off 131 balls. Phillips, on the other hand, smashed 106 in 88 balls. The partnership between the two batters produced a whopping 219 runs off 188 balls which helped New Zealand get to a score of 337/8 despite being 5/2 at one stage.

On the one hand, one could argue that India would be happy that they've restricted New Zealand to around 340 when they looked capable of scoring much more than that during Mitchell and Phillips's stand. However, The fact remains that New Zealand 5/2 early in the innings and 58/3 in the 13th over. Going to 337 from there is always impressive.

Whichever way you look at it, the one fact that remains is that India have a hell of a lot of work to do now. A target of 338 to get to avoid falling to their first ever ODI series defeat at home to New Zealand.
