Why does this election matter?: The outcome of the Kerala local body polls will shape political momentum ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. Local body results have often signalled voter mood, verdicts in 2010 and 2015 went against the ruling front, and the Opposition later won the 2011 and 2016 Assembly elections.

Kerala Local Body Election Results 2025 LIVE Updates: Big victory for us, says Congress MP KC Venugopal

Congress MP KC Venugopal says, "This is an election in the history of Kerala local body elections where the UDF and Congress have secured the maximum number of seats. This is a big victory for us. Certainly, the trend is clear; we are going to win the next assembly elections. The CPM has not performed well at all. This is because there was a huge anti-incumbency wave against them. These days, their policies fully support the Central government. I think their cadre voted for the BJP in some seats, hence the result"

LoP Kerala Assembly & Congress leader VD Satheesan says, "I express my gratitude to the people of Kerala for the wonderful victory to UDF. This is the biggest victory we have ever seen. We have submitted a chargesheet against the government as well as our manifesto. This is a warning against the state government and a protest of the people against those who misgoverned Kerala. It expresses anti-incumbency and a communal agenda set by Pinarayi Vijayan. He is taking the same path as the BJP, which wants to split people. We have taken a strong secular positioning and we are against communalism. BJP is in power in Trivandrum due to CPI(M)'s communal agenda and they are its biggest beneficiaries. Our political stand is to keep away from both parties. If time needs some changes, we will think about it - not with the BJP."
