Jammu Kashmir Pahalgam Terror Attack News Live Updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday chaired a meeting with the top figures of the defence establishment, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan and the chiefs of three services. The meeting comes in light of the Pahalgam terror attack which claimed the lives of 26 people on April 22. Earlier in the day, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan chaired a high-level with the chiefs of of three paramilitary forces (NSG, BSF and Assam Rifles) and senior officers of other security organisations.

Security forces close in on terrorists: The two Pakistani terrorists suspected to be behind the killing of 26 people in Pahalgam are believed to have entered Jammu and Kashmir about a year and a half ago as part of a group of infiltrators from Pakistan. It is suspected that the group entered through the Samba-Kathua region by cutting through the fence and has since been involved in several terror attacks. Their infiltration, sources said, had been investigated earlier too, following certain terror incidents in the Valley, and a senior BSF officer even received considerable heat for it from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Centre bans Pakistani YouTube channels: Acting on the recommendations of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Centre banned 16 Pakistani YouTube channels, including some leading channels like Dawn News, Samaa TV, Ary News, and Geo New on Monday for airing “provocative content” and “misinformation on India, its Army, and security agencies” after the Pahalgam terror attack. These 16 channels have 63.08 million followers.

And then this can be considered. But at the moment, this question should not be asked. Not possible," Akhtar told PTI in an interview.--PTI

Pahalgam Terror Attack Live Updates: Kharge slams PM Modi for skipping all-party meet on Pahalgam attack

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for skipping the all-party meeting on the Pahalgam terror attack and accused the BJP of creating divisions in the country.

Kharge said that in this hour of crisis, everyone wants to fight together, "but the BJP wants to spread venom and divide people".

"It is the misfortune of the country.... Leaders of all parties attended the all-party meeting, but it is a matter of shame that PM Modi did not come... the country's pride was hurt, you (PM Modi) were giving an election speech in Bihar," Kharge said at the 'Samvidhan Bachao' rally. He said the Congress had decided to support the government in its action as the country is supreme.

"Country is supreme, then come parties and religion. Everyone should be united for the country," he said, adding that the Congress fought for the country's freedom and lakhs of people had shed their blood and devoted their lives to the cause. "Was Bihar far away? The prime minister should have come to the all-party meeting and explained the plan. What help does he need from us?" he said.

"This is the attitude of the BJP and the prime minister. From our side, Rahul Gandhi went to Srinagar, met the injured, and spoke to the people ..."Modi did not come to the all-party meeting, but he talks big -- about having a 56-inch chest, of taking the attack home (ghar mein ghuske marenge)," he said.

Pahalgam Terror Attack Live Updates: Pro-Pak social media accounts falsely claiming docs on Indian Army's preparedness leaked, says PIB

The government's Press Information Bureau (PIB) on Monday flagged that some pro-Pakistan social media accounts are falsely claiming that 'confidential documents' related to the preparedness of the Indian Army have been "leaked". In a post on X, PIB Fact Check dubbed these documents as "fake".

This comes amid heightened tension between New Delhi and Islamabad following last week's terror attack in Pahalgam. On April 22, terrorists shot dead 26 people, mostly tourists, at a meadow in Baisaran of south Kashmir's Pahalgam.

A day after the brazen attack, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had firmed up New Delhi's retaliatory measures, directed the security forces to maintain "high vigil" and resolved to bring the perpetrators of the crime to justice.

PIB Fact Check in its post on X said, "Pro-Pakistan social media accounts are falsely claiming that confidential documents related to the preparedness of the #indianarmy have been leaked. #pibfactcheck These documents are #fake Please avoid sharing unverified information and rely only on official sources from the Government of India for accurate information".

The Ministry of Defence on Sunday cautioned that a "misleading" message is doing the rounds on WhatsApp claiming that the government has opened a bank account seeking donations for the modernisation of the Indian Army.

In a statement, the ministry debunked the message and urged people to "remain cautious and not fall prey to such fraudulent messages". The PIB Fact Check had also alerted people about this "misleading" message with a post on X on Sunday.

Pahalgam Terror Attack Live Updates: China calls for 'swift and fair investigation' into Pahalgam attack

China has called for a "swift and fair investigation" into the Pahalgam terror attack and expressed support for its all-weather ally Pakistan in safeguarding its sovereignty and security interests amid Islamabad's rising tensions with India.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Sunday held a telephonic conversation with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

"As an ironclad friend and an all-weather strategic cooperative partner, China fully understands Pakistan's legitimate security concerns and supports Pakistan in safeguarding its sovereignty and security interests," the report quoted Wang as saying.

"China advocates for a swift and fair investigation and believes that conflict does not serve the fundamental interests of either India or Pakistan, nor does it benefit regional peace and stability," Wang noted.

China hopes both sides will remain restrained, move toward each other, and work together to de-escalate the situation, he added.

Dar emphasised that Pakistan had consistently and firmly fought terrorism and was against any actions that could lead to an escalation of the situation, according to the report. Pakistan is committed to managing the situation in a mature manner and will maintain communication with China and the international community, Dar said, the news agency reported.
