Jhon Cordoba and Jhon Arias had the best chances of scoring in the first half for Colombia but were denied by Portugal keeper Diogo Costa while at the other end, Bruno Fernandes had a golden opportunity from point-blank range, but was thwarted by Camilo Vargas.

It was a game where both teams are chasing top spot in Group K. Both were already through to the Round of 32. But a win today for either side would have assured them of a better draw for Round of 32. Eventually Colombia secured the top spot with a draw.

After firing blanks in Portugal’s tournament opener, Ronaldo finally came to the party with two goals as Portugal tormented Uzbekistan. But Ronaldo was largely quiet against Colombia, with an audacious overhead kick in the first half his only real chance at scoring. Miami is where Messi plays his club football for Inter Miami in the Major League Soccer.

In the other game of Group K, Congo managed to secure a spot in the round of 32 with a 3-1 win over Uzbekistan.

“Balance and Dua Lipa, those were the two main topics,” Martínez said.

Questions were sparked on how to handle two more years of major soccer tournaments in the United States — the Club World Cup last year and this year's World Cup.

There was increased security last summer at the Club World Cup matches held in Miami, which served as a preview of the ticket-screening measures to expect on Saturday.

Fans must pass through three separate checkpoints that enclose the entire campus before getting close to the stadium, and parking passes are checked well before entry. Steel fencing is also set up around the perimeter.
