They were detained on October 13 and sent to five days of judicial custody on October 14.
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, in a post on X, said, “The state is deliberately prolonging Ashu and Saurav’s illegal arrest by using every dirty trick in the book to delay court proceedings and prevent their release.”
“They have no legal grounds to keep them behind bars, so they are resorting to delaying tactics to keep them there,” he added.

Kunhalikutty says Kerala's Samastha faction's waqf board concerns will be addressed
Industries Minister and senior IUML leader P K Kunhalikutty said the concerns raised by the Kanthapuram A P Aboobacker Musliyar faction of the Samastha Kerala Jem-iyyathul Ulama over the lack of representation in the reconstituted State Waqf Board were genuine and would be addressed.
Kunhalikutty was speaking to reporters on his arrival for a meeting convened by Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) state president Sayyid Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal with leaders of various factions of the Muslim community. The Kerala government on Friday dissolved the Waqf Board headed by K S Hamsa, which was constituted by the previous LDF government in March this year, and appointed a new nine-member board despite more than four years remaining in the tenure of the previous board.
The new board is headed by IUML leader M C Mayin Haji. Its other members are IUML leader and MLA Kurukkoli Moideen, Musthafa Faizi, Siras D Capsi, Thodiyoor Muhammed Kunju Maulavi, Sajna Firoz, Jaseem Sabaha, Dr Abdul Majeed Swalahi and C Madina Begham. Criticism emerged following the reconstitution, with the Kanthapuram faction raising concerns over its lack of representation.
“Their concern is genuine. We have no difference of opinion on that. We will discuss the matter and explore ways to resolve it,” Kunhalikutty said. “Under the new rules, there are several restrictions on the government’s powers regarding the membership of the Waqf Board. Members have to be selected from specific categories, and that has created certain issues,” he added.

Delhi High Court permits termination of 31-week pregnancy of 16-year-old rape survivor
The Delhi High Court has permitted the medical termination of the 31-week pregnancy of a 16-year-old sexual assault survivor, observing that it would not be appropriate to expect the minor to bear the burden of giving birth to and raising a child.
Justice Mini Pushkarna said termination of a pregnancy resulting from sexual assault, particularly in the case of a minor, cannot be viewed merely as a matter of reproductive choice but also involves the victim’s right to live with dignity.
“Thus, it was held that it would not be appropriate to expect the minor rape victim to take the burden of giving birth and raising a child, especially in a situation where she herself is passing through the age of adolescence,” the court said.
The court allowed the termination despite the pregnancy having crossed the statutory gestational limit, exercising its constitutional jurisdiction after considering the circumstances of the case.

Johnson Abraham from Bengaluru reports that the Karnataka High Court has denied anticipatory bail to Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) member Shantha Hosamani, ordering a further CID investigation into allegations that she favored a job aspirant during the May 2026 Karnataka Administrative Services (KAS) interviews. Upon reviewing the marks awarded by the committee and noting 13 phone calls exchanged between Hosamani and the candidate, the court identified prima facie evidence of malpractice, violating regulations that prohibit KPSC members from having contact with candidates. The High Court emphasized the necessity of a thorough investigation to maintain institutional integrity, particularly as the final selection list for 384 KAS posts has been stayed since July 31, 2026, amid widespread allegations of corruption.

CJP alleges deliberate delays in release of Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das
The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has accused authorities of deliberately prolonging the custody of party leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka by "delaying" court proceedings and rejecting bail sureties on "vague" grounds. The detention follows their arrest for scaling locked gates to enter Jantar Mantar after it was denotified as a designated protest site.
They were detained on October 13 and sent to five days of judicial custody on October 14.
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, in a post on X, said, "The state is deliberately prolonging Ashu and Saurav's illegal arrest by using every dirty trick in the book to delay court proceedings and prevent their release."
"They have no legal grounds to keep them behind bars, so they are resorting to delaying tactics to keep them there," he added.
