In a conversation with Screen Rant, Tiwari said, “Ramayana is the oldest epic, and I believe Homer was inspired by Ramayana in some way; having written those bits in Odyssey. And yes, I did notice those equivalents and I felt very happy that our greatest epic has got a tribute in another epic which belongs to the West side, and it’s going to make it very easier for the people to also connect with what we were trying to bring to the West also.”

Pyre director Vinod Kapri claims 75% shows cut after Ramayana release

Pyre director Vinod Kapri has claimed that his film lost over 75% of its theatre shows following the release of Ramayana. The filmmaker claimed that exhibitors and distributors had been told not to screen other films, even if their shows were running to empty houses.

Although he did not explicitly name Ramayana, Kapri questioned the practice of shutting down smaller films to make way for bigger releases. “I do not understand why do you have to shut one film to make work yours own. Is this really the win of truth over lies? Is this the victory of good over evil?” he said.

He also appealed to exhibitors and distributors, saying, “If you have invested a lot of money in making your film, we too have poured in all our heart and soul in making this film. We too deserve a fair chance.”

Ranbir Kapoor to turn director in the next couple of years

Ranbir Kapoor shared with BBC Asian News Network, “I just started writing a script a couple of months back, and it’s so hard to create. I have so much respect for writers and creators. ‘How do you create?’ It’s exciting because I truly believe that after a musician, if there’s somebody who feels a creative high, it’s the director. An actor’s high is very superficial but the director, when he directs a movie, however good or bad, the opportunity to tell a story and get all these people together to tell your story, it’s just a beautiful experience and I hope I can do it.”

Ramayana Movie Updates: 'Yash was ferocious as Ravana'

X user Himesh Mankad took to X to praise Ramayana and shared, "To play the part of Ravana in Ramayana is a brave, bold and unconventional choice by Yash. And to be honest, I think, I know why he did it - the confidence as an actor to play evil like no one else, and own every scene of the film. You can sense danger, when he is around. Yash was ferocious as Ravana, from the word go and carried the part with so much conviction, bringing in the aura, menace and swag to the part. You know, you are facing a monster like no one can imagine and a large credit for that goes to Yash. Lord Ram and Ravana are contrasts, and one can see that with what the two actors brought to the table. And to think of it, the epic face off still remains, which we will explore in the second part in 2028. A tough performance, made to look simple - that’s Yash for you. Secure, & Strong at the same time. That’s what defines a Superstar!"

Abhay Arora was not the body double for Ranbir Kapoor’s Parashurama

In the chat with SREEN, actor Abhay Arora revealed how the shots between him and Ranbir, both playing Parashurama, were divided for Ramayana. “It’s me who is sitting and giving the bow, wherever Ranbir is standing, it’s all my shots. It was a part of the agreement between the makers and me that they will have to show the relevance between the avatars of Bhagwan Vishnu,” he said and added, “Performance wise, it was identical. I had performed it a day before and then we did the blocking, we did all the discussions and then it was performed later by him (Ranbir), and then later on, they merged both the performances.”

Abhay insisted that this was not the work of a body double. “Generally, it is given the term of a body double but a body double doesn’t have to perform, give the lines or perform the emotions,” he said.

Ranbir Kapoor played Parashurama with Abhay Arora in Ramayana

Abhay Arora revealed that he played the role of Parashurama alongside Ranbir Kapoor in Ramayana. In a chat with SCREEN, he shared, “Ranbir and I have given the same performance, same dialogues, same emotions. Everything was just the same, and we performed it together. The creative idea was that the makers wanted to show the relevance between Vishnu’s sixth and the seventh avatar, which is bhagwan Parshuram, bhagwan Ram and bhagwan Vishnu. So, they wanted to show the similarities of the faces, and hence, this call was taken even before I was cast. When I was cast, they told me, ‘You actually look like bhagwan Parshuram in it, from what we have seen. But, now we have taken a creative call, and would you still like to do this?’ And, I wanted to contribute to the film. The idea was to put Ranbir’s face on me and keep both the performances. So, they have kept some of the shots which are completely mine, and some of the shots which are Ranbir’s. It is not just a body double, it’s a complete performance, which is the same.”
