Wontumi’s Guilt In Galamsey Is Clear – Ebenezer Opoku
by Stephen Zoure · MyNewsGh.comA member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communication Team, Ebenezer Opoku, has defended the court’s decision in the Samreboi galamsey case, arguing that the evidence presented during the trial supported the allegations against Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.
Speaking on Oyerepa Radio, Mr. Opoku maintained that the prosecution’s case was backed by testimony that linked the NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman to the illegal mining activities under investigation.
“The evidence presented before the court clearly showed that Chairman Wontumi was guilty of all the allegations levelled against him in the Samreboi galamsey case,” he said.
According to him, a key witness testified that Wontumi had granted him access to a mining concession with instructions to use it for galamsey operations and later reclaim the land after the activities had been carried out.
“The person he gave his concession to said he told him to use it for galamsey and after that he should reclaim it,” Mr. Opoku stated.
He argued that the court’s decision was based on the evidence and testimony presented during the proceedings and should therefore be respected.
Mr. Opoku urged the public to allow legal processes to take their course and avoid interpreting the outcome of the case through partisan political lenses.
