Baffour Awuah case: Are you going for the guy because of Ghana Jollof? – Senyo Hosi asks

by · MyNewsGh.com

Activist Senyo Hosi has warned that the investigation involving Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah could lose public credibility if it is seen as politically motivated.

Hosi said the concern was worth considering, especially if the investigation appeared to concentrate on Baffour Awuah while other people involved in the SIC settlement were not being publicly accounted for.

“It seems you are going for the guy because of Ghana Jollof,” he said on TV3’s Keypoints.

He questioned why the public conversation was focused so heavily on Baffour Awuah when the directors and leadership of SIC Life and Equity Savings and Loans were also central to the transaction.

“Where are the directors of SIC Life at the time? Where is Equity? Where are the directors? Where is the board chairman?” he asked.

Hosi said the failure to provide a clear picture of the investigation could encourage speculation about the motives behind it.

“This is where legitimate investigations now become political conversations,” he said, warning that such situations could cause investigations to lose direction.

The panel also discussed the history of consent judgments in Ghana and how they had previously featured in political campaigns. Hosi pushed back against treating the current matter as a repeat of those earlier political controversies.

He argued that the focus should remain on the facts of the SIC settlement, the decisions taken and the people responsible for them.

Hosi’s concern was not that the matter should be left uninvestigated, but that the process should be clear enough to prevent legitimate questions about the transaction from being overshadowed by political arguments.
