The Mahama administration’s next major test is ensuring that economic improvements translate into jobs, according to Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu.

Speaking on GTV Breakfast, Mr Iddrisu said unemployment and underemployment remain some of the biggest issues facing the country and must receive attention.

He explained that while economic stability and growth are important, the impact must eventually be felt through employment opportunities for citizens.

“Whether that stability and growth is making us address unemployment, that I would accept as a challenge that government must resolve to deal with,” he said.

Mr Iddrisu said unemployment remains an unresolved social problem that requires focused policies and practical interventions.

He noted that the government’s broader economic agenda must go beyond improving economic indicators and focus on creating opportunities for people, especially those seeking work.

“One of which remains unresolved adequately, unemployment and underemployment of our economy,” he added.
