I’ve done no wrong in accepting to be NLA Boss – Mohammed Abdul Salam
by Ayeh Offei-Akoto · MyNewsGh.comActing Director-General for the National Lotteries Authority (NLA), Mohammed Abdul Salam is of the view that he has done nothing wrong in accepting an elevation by the President of Ghana to serve his country.
According to him, Ghana is a circular state, and the positions people occupy do not depend on their religion.
To him, the appointing authority looks at competence and realises that he is the one with the needed competence to man the NLA.
“I cannot find any Muslim under the sun who can stand anywhere and say that my piety is to the extent that I’ve never signed against my God. Religion has nothing to do with governance. Ghana is a circular state; there is nowhere anybody will say that this person will occupy this position because he is a Christian or this person will occupy this position because he is a Muslim.
Institutions of state are supposed to be manned by people who are competent, and the appointing authority deems fit that Mohammed Abdul Salam, at this particular point in time, given the opportunity, can man the National Lottery Authority, and that has been given to me, and I’ve consented to it. I’ve sent a formal letter accepting the appointment,” he told Citi FM in Accra.
King Salam Gulbia could not fathom why people have problems with his elevation indicating that he has worked as a lotto agent in the past but people did not have problems with that but have problems now that he has been appointed to a high office.
