Police name persons behind Ghana Jollof’s Activities – COP Lydia Donkor
by Gabs · MyNewsGh.comDirector-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, has said police forensic investigations uncovered a financial network supporting activities linked to the Ghana Jollof TikTok account.
Speaking at a CID press briefing at the Police Headquarters in Accra on Friday, September 18, 2026, COP Donkor said forensic examination of mobile devices and mobile money records showed that some influential individuals transferred significant amounts of money to Salomey Awiti Bafoh.
She said Salomey shared portions of the money with people who helped circulate content produced by Barbara Asantewaa Kodua, whom police identify as behind the Ghana Jollof account.
“Forensic examination of the audio and video files on the mobile devices, as well as mobile money records, revealed that highly influential persons transferred significant sums of money to Salomey,” COP Donkor said.
According to her, police investigations also showed that Barbara, who is believed to be domiciled in the United Kingdom, sent money to Salomey in Ghana.
Salomey, the CID Director-General said, distributed portions of the funds to people involved in redistributing the videos.
She further disclosed that investigators had identified other individuals who provided consistent financial support for Barbara’s online activities.
“We know the high-profile persons funding them, from the phones,” COP Donkor said, adding that forensic voice details and transcripts would be tendered in court.
The financial links form part of the police investigation into the activities surrounding the Ghana Jollof account and Salomey’s alleged role in assisting its operations.
Salomey was arrested by the National Signals Bureau and the Police on September 17 and charged with abetment of crime, to wit, publication of false news.
She has been remanded into police custody and is scheduled to reappear on September 30, while investigators continue efforts to identify and locate other participants and alleged financial sponsors.
COP Donkor said the investigation was still ongoing, meaning the financial links and roles of the individuals identified by police remain subject to the court process.
