Karim Zito reacts to Kotoko fans calling for his dismissal

Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has rejected calls for his dismissal, insisting that demands for his removal are premature.

The Asante Kotoko coach has come under increasing pressure after a run of inconsistent results this season, with Kotoko currently fifth in the Ghana Premier League on 35 points from 21 matches.

The Porcupine Warriors’ difficulties continued on Sunday when they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Aduana FC.

Following a goalless draw in regulation time at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kotoko lost 4-2 in the penalty shootout, heightening concerns among supporters.

Fans had called for Zito’s departure even before the Round of 16 encounter, but the coach appealed for patience.

Speaking to Asempa FM Zito said, “Calls for my dismissal are premature. I ask the fans to support the team as we hope to achieve our target,” Zito said.

The loss has further increased scrutiny on Zito, with the FA Cup viewed as the club’s most realistic opportunity for silverware this season.

In the league, they trail leaders Medeama SC by eight points, and the early exit is expected to intensify attention on both the playing squad and technical team.
