I’m working hard to earn a spot for the World Cup—Richard Ofori
by Ayeh Offei-Akoto · MyNewsGh.comSahara Football reports that Richard Ofori is working hard to secure a place in the Black Stars squad for the 2026 World Cup.
According to the goalkeeper who lost his place in the Black Stars, he is focusing on performing at his club side because that is what he needs to get into the Black Stars team.
He believes that being consistent at the club side will earn him another call-up after his disappointing showing at the last AFCON.
“So I’m working hard and then focusing on my team at the moment. That’s what you need to do for you to be there, because you can’t sit on the bench, or you can’t sit and then just wake up and go.
“So I’m working hard in my team to help my team in the league, and then the rest will take over,” he is reported to have said.
Black Stars have qualified for the 2026 World Cup to be staged in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
Since the team’s qualification, there have been players of Ghanaian origin who have since expressed interest in playing for the West African country.
However, the coach of the Black Stars says every player who expresses interest in playing for the Black Stars will be looked at and commitment to the country will be paramount in getting a place in the squad.
