I’m absolutely disappointed with the result—Black Princesses coach on South Africa draw
by Ayeh Offei-Akoto · MyNewsGh.comHead coach of the Black Princesses of Ghana, Charles Sampson, has expressed disappointment after his team’s draw against South Africa in the first leg of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana faces a challenging task ahead of the return fixture this weekend, having surrendered a two-goal lead to settle for a 2-2 draw at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, February 8, 2026.
The Black Princesses had taken control in the first half with goals from Agnes Yeboah and Linda Owusu Ansah, putting them on track for a home victory.
However, the South African side demonstrated resilience and determination to fight back, earning an important away draw that could prove decisive in the tie.
Speaking after the match, Charles Sampson did not hide his frustration, noting that the team had aimed to keep a clean sheet to boost their qualification chances.
“I’m absolutely disappointed with the result. We wanted to keep a clean sheet against South Africa. So to lose concentration and concede two goals is disappointing” he said.
