The girls are ready to redeem themselves – Black Princesses coach
by Ayeh Offei-Akoto · MyNewsGh.comHead coach of Ghana’s Black Princesses, Charles Sampson, believes his team will beat South Africa this weekend and move to the next round of the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
The Black Princesses had their final training session in Mbombela on Friday before the return match.
Speaking after training, Sampson said his team did not finish their chances well in the first game in Ghana, which ended 2-2.
After working on the team’s problems in recent days, the coach now feels sure the Princesses can win away and qualify.
“We have been working on the last third the most this week because that’s where we lack a bit. Pressure is part of the game. We are playing to qualify for the World Cup. Unfortunately, we slipped a little bit in the last match. We are ready, the girls are ready to redeem themselves tomorrow and qualify for the next stage,” Charles Sampson said.
The return match between South Africa and Ghana will be played on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the Nelspruit Mbombela Stadium. The game will start at 13:00 GMT.
