by Miss Naa · MyNewsGh.comInterior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak has assured the public that the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) will pursue the sexual assault allegations involving Obuasi Senior High Technical School headmaster Zakaria Abdulai without compromise.
He said he had absolute confidence in the CID Director-General and was certain the investigation would not be swept under the carpet.
“I can vouch with my life she will not compromise anything on this. That’s just the assurance I want to give the country,” he said.
Speaking on the matter, Muntaka disclosed that he directed the case to be transferred from the regional level to Police Headquarters after it came to his attention on September 7, amid concerns surrounding the allegations.
“As we speak, the matter is at the Police Headquarters being handled,” he said when he appeared before Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
The Interior Minister said the headmaster had been arrested and had given a statement to investigators, adding that the case was being handled in accordance with due process.
He urged the public to trust the investigators to establish the facts and ensure the matter was dealt with appropriately.
“I have absolute trust in her that this matter will not be swept under the carpet. It will travel all the full length and it will be dealt with in accordance with the law,” he said.
